Silent Whisper

Book: Silent Whisper
Series: Limbo #1
Author: Andrea Smith

What was I thinking that night as I drove over the mountain on the narrow, icy road that seemed to wind around like a coiled up snake? Certainly not that my life would be changed forever when my car careened off the side and landed in a cemetery. I never could have imagined that Chester, West Virginia held some old secrets that only I would be privy to, and expected to resolve.

I'm Parrish Locke. A model on assignment in Chester, WV. Not a resident by any means, but a witness nevertheless . . . to murder.

Karlee's murder.

This is her story--not mine, but I'm the only one that can tell it and trust me, it needs to be told. This is about love and the mafia and how sometimes, the two just aren't meant to be - or are they?

I'll let you decide. -Goodreads

Review: This book was unique in that it had paranormal aspects and romance but I wouldn't classify it as a paranormal romance. In present day, Parrish Locke is a model who gets in a car accident. The story shifts to the early 80's and we follow the story of a prostitute who ends up becoming the mistress of a mobster. I really enjoyed the 80's storyline and the love story between the characters. When this book shifted back to present day and Parrish was our main character again, I didn't enjoy it as much. It's hard to talk about this book without spoilers, but I did not find Parrish likable and her interaction with a ghost was frustrating at best.

Overall, I did enjoy this book and I'll read the next one in the series.

Grade: 2.5/5
