Nuts

Book: Nuts
Series: Hudson Valley #1
Author: Alice Clayton

After losing almost all of her clients in one fell swoop following an accident involving whipped cream, private chef to Hollywood’s elite Roxie Callahan gets a call from her flighty mother, saying she’s needed home in upstate New York to run the family diner. Once she's back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks—and clothing—begin to fly. Leo believes that everything worth doing is worth doing slowly…and how! But will Roxie stay upstate, or will the lure of West Coast redemption tempt her back to Tinseltown?-Goodreads

Review: When Roxie, a private chef, is fired by several of her clients and her mother is offered a position on The Amazing Race, Roxie agrees to go home to run the family diner for a few months. Roxie isn't excited to leave California for her small NY town, but when she meets sexy local farmer, Leo, her summer may be better than anticipated.

I love Alice Clayton and her Wallbanger series..I was super excited to read this because I'm from a small town in upstate NY like Roxie but this book didn't work for me. There was a lot of information on organic farming and cooking. There is nothing wrong with that, but I felt like more time was spent on farming and cooking than the relationship development between Roxie and Leo. I also found it unbelievable that the small town would have kept the 'big secret' from Roxie. Roxie also had a bizarre fear of bees that was supposed to be funny but I found over-the-top ridiculous.

Overall, not my favorite Alice Clayton book but I will continue with the series.

Grade: 2/5
